Who’s up for an adventure?

We are Buds and Blossoms and if there’s one thing we want you to know about us, it’s that we love families. No matter the shape, no matter the size: we are passionate about the groups of big people and little ones that give our hearts homes.

Buds and Blossoms is a family activity studio conveniently nestled in Cabbagetown offering a diverse selection of educational and entertaining classes and events for children and their grown-ups.

Whether you’re preparing to welcome your first addition or already have additions that need something above and beyond school, we’ve got the solutions and support you are looking for.

CLASSES

Courses for you and the little ones!

Our classes are offered on a 12-week semester basis throughout the year. During the summer holiday, day camp programs are offered.

Winter Semester: January 8 – April 6, 2018

Spring Semester: April 8 – June 29, 2018

Our classes are taught by subject-certified instructors and all have passed the vulnerable sector check.

Upcoming Class Schedule

Baby Gym
Bring your baby along as we explore our first learned movements together. We will squat, crawl, bend, twist and stretch, learning from the experts: Babies. Class will work on babies’ coordination and gross motor skills

PiLattes
This is a fitness class that uses Pilates techniques to sculpt and tone your whole body. We will be utilizing body weight, resistance bands, and the ballet bar to achieve results. Babies are welcome to make the class even more fun! Great intro class to get back into fitness from pregnancy while focusing on pelvic recovery.  *DISCLAIMER* Pie and lattes will not be served.

M&M Time (Ballet)
A 45 min class focusing on….bonding with your little one through dance and ballet movement! A combination of both classic dance moves for the parents and storytelling/creative movement for the little ones. Both a workout for the parent and a fun/stimulating experience for your child.

Meet Me At The Barre
A 45 min class focusing on strengthening and lengthening! Pliés, sautés and planks, oh my! Total body workout incorporating basic ballet moves along with building your cardiovascular stamina. Starting with a simple warm up, followed by barre work (just like a real ballet class!) and finish in the centre with what dancers call ‘floor work’ (exercises focusing on balance followed by jumps and other moves you may find on the weight room floor).

Little Gymnast
New to gymnastics? Want to get a taste what floor gymnastics is all about? Well, look no further! Little Gymnast is a fun class that focusses on basic gymnastics skills. Benefits of this class include improved coordination, athletic ability, stamina, team building and communication skills. Physical skills such as kart wheels, front rolls, handstands and walk-overs will be a focus. Skills such as partner balancing and acrobatics will be covered as well.

Zumba
The world-famous dance cardio class right here at Buds and Blossoms! A 45-minute high energy class combining the styles of salsa, merengue, hip hop, mambo (just to name a few) along with strengthening and muscle conditioning movements to create a very addictive, total body workout.

Acro Dance / Gymnastics
Acro dance and floor gymnastics is a fun class that focusses on basic gymnastics skills. Benefits of this class include improved coordination, athletic ability, stamina, team building and communication skills. Physical skills such as kart wheels, front rolls, handstands and walk-overs will be a focus. Skills such as partner balancing and acrobatics will be covered as well.

Clay Time!
Each week children will learn the techniques to gradually build their own clay object. Throughout this time, we will also explore the many unique sides of culture, colours, and objects of the art world. Children will learn a brief piece of history, and create an artwork as a nod to our explorations. You can expect, jewelry making, murals, clay and much much more!

Tuff Toddlers
Progressing from the Bouncing Babies curriculum, Tuff Toddlers starts to advance movements, for parents and toddlers. We will play using coordination, listening skills, and patterns while moving and grooving through an obstacle course! Fine and gross motor skills will be utilized while learning basic anatomy.

Yoyogaga
Yoga for yo mommas and yo papas. This program allows for the stay-at-home parent to practice yoga techniques. Pre and post natal mums will be coached for adaptations and modifications.

InterActive Storytime
Each week, kids ages 4-5 will go on a journey together through story and movement.  Kids become a part of the story, learning themes of diversity and friendship while practicing empathy and building confidence.

Makers and Shakers

Mini Picasso
An introductory class for young children to learn the basics of art, but most importantly explore and make a mess! As a Mini Picasso, each week children will work primarily as a group to delve into the sensory aspects of the art world, as well as make unique pieces of art to call their own!

Candlelight Deep Flow
This class is perfect for anyone looking for an opportunity to really unwind, deeply stetch, and rejuvenate the body and mind. Perfect for yogis of all levels. Candlelight, music, and relaxing aromatherapy included!

World of Dance
Take a 45-minute trip to somewhere and learn dance styles from around the world! Russian Character, Bollywood, Afro Caribbean will be some of our destinations! We will switch up styles every few weeks which will keep you on your toes! (pun totally intended!)

Blossoming Ballerinas
Do you have a little one who is interested in ballet? This class focuses on the fundamental steps of ballet. Story book dancing and props to help keep the class interesting and to work on fine/gross motor skills.

Salsa Time
Introduce you and your little ones to the moves and Latin rhythms in this 45-minute dance and cardio class. Enjoy some bonding time with your little “pepper” by dancing and moving to Latin music.

Yogahhhhh
This Yin style class is gentle and restorative in nature, using props and pillows to find the right fit for you!  Class moves slowly through poses, with focus on finding balance with activities you perform daily.

Every child is unique and goes through stages of development at their own pace. Yoga for Kids totally gets this and works with your child to improve their focus, fitness, concentration and coordination.  We also begin to teach an understanding of their own mind body connections and how those connections can affect the world around them.

Baby Dreamers
Stories come to life! This class allows parents and toddlers to collaborate with the storyteller. Connect with your inner artist: Act and craft the story together.  This class practices empathy, diversity, creativity, fine and gross motorskills. Prepare yourself for a class filled with giggles and surprises!

Belles and Barre
“Prenatal OR Post Natal Mothers (Min 3mos post delivery)
If you are preparing for delivery, or you’re starting to recover from the hostile takeover, we can begin the process of strategic negotiation to take back your body from its hijacker(s).  This class incorporates focused pelvic floor work as well as toning for your whole body. Using weights, resistance and the barre for balance, your goal is to improve strength, coordination, and mind body connections. (max weights lifted 5-10lbs) “

Stroller Parking

Stroller parking is conveniently located beside our store in front of the Salt and Tobacco pizzeria at 521 Parliament Street. We recommend that you bring your own lock; however, you are welcome to borrow one of ours should you forget.
